AYR Featured in Josh Chuck’s Making Waves Documentary!!!

March 20, 2025 | AYR had the privilege of being part of an upcoming documentary, “Making Waves: The Rise of Asian America.” Directed and produced by Josh Chuck and Jon Osaka, this documentary dives into Asian American activism throughout history and the fight to incorporate our histories into curriculums nationwide.

A Celebration of Team USA at the White House

October 11, 2024 | AAPI Youth Rising was humbled to be invited by President Biden to the White House in honoring and cheering on our nation’s athletes at A Celebration of Team USA. On September 30, 2024, several AYR representatives gathered with other invitees on the South Lawn of the White House to meet members of Team USA from this past summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

Capitol Visit and Meeting with Senator Hirono

October 11, 2024 | On September 27, 2024, members of the AYR Leadership Team were invited by Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii on a private tour of the Capitol building followed by lunch in her office Highlights of the Capitol building tour included visiting the Rotunda, stepping inside the old Supreme Court Chamber, and even taking a ride on the Capitol’s own underground subway.

White House AANHPI Policy Summit

October 10, 2024 | On September 26, 2024, members of AYR congregated on the steps of the U.S. Department of Transportation Headquarters in Washington D.C. for an event hosted by The White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI). This gathering highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration’s leadership, accomplishments, and continued commitment to advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiaan and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities.

Representing Youth Voices at The White House Initiative on AANHPI Mental Health Convening

Last month I had the privilege of representing AAPI Youth Rising at the White House Initiative on AANHPI Mental Health Convening. The experience was inspiring and eye-opening, and it was an honor for us to bring a youth perspective to the discussion. I was struck by the incredible work being done by various organizations around the country, each dedicated to tackling mental health issues in their unique communities.

The Asian American Foundation: AAPI History Hub

September 15, 2024 | AYR is proud to partner with The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) on this collaborative effort that compiles more than 200 high-quality, classroom-ready resources for K-12 educators to teach the diverse histories of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Asian Art Museum Board Meeting and Tour

July 22, 2024 | This past month’s board meeting was held on July 14 at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. Museum board members spoke to us about the museum’s mission and goals, history, and some of the programs they offer. During the AYR youth board meeting, board and board-in-training members met to discuss updates as well as upcoming plans and events.

San Francisco Pride Parade With CA vs. Hate

July 21, 2024 | The pride parade was held in San Francisco on June 29 – 30. Members from AYR marched alongside the organization CA vs. Hate, as well as many other organizations and individuals, in an effort to raise awareness about available support for reporting acts of hate. This annual march celebrates diversity, promotes inclusivity, and advocates for equality for all LGBTQ+ communities.
