AYR at CAAMFest’s Making Waves Screening
May 10, 2025 | AYR members Jaslene, Charlee, Mina, Max, and Anna attended the screening of Making Waves: the Rise of Asian America at CAAMFest earlier today. Jaslene, Charlee, Mina, and Anna were honored to have been featured in the film. Afterwards, they spoke at the post-screening reception on a panel with Vicci Wong. Congrats to co-directors Jon Osaki and Josh Chuck for their amazing film!

AAPI Youth Rising selected for the 2025 Asian American Achievement Award
May 9, 2025 | On September 6, 2025, Saturday 6pm, OCA San Mateo will host its 34th annual fundraising gala and awards recognition dinner for Asian Americans who have contributed to our Bay Area community in remarkable ways. They’re honoring AAPI Youth Rising this year as one of four recipients of the 2025 Asian American Achievement Awards for being the model for a new generation of activists dedicated to social justice for the AAPI community. Each one of AAPI Youth Rising’s board members will be bestowed with this award. The board members will also be interviewed by David Louie in a 15 minute “fireside chat” format about AAPI Youth Rising. The attendees will include community leaders, elected officials, journalists, family, and friends.

May 4, 2025 | Senator Hirono invites AYR to Student Roundtable (April 23, 2025) Last week, Senator Hirono invited Mina Fedor alongside 6 student leaders to share our perspectives on federal funding cuts to education programs, how dismantling the U.S. Department of Education may impact them and students in general, and how AYR is encouraging peers to get involved and take action. Here’s a quote from the Senator: “Our keiki, students, and educators rely on the support provided by the Department of Education, particularly students with disabilities and those in low-income and rural communities,” said Senator Hirono. “From ensuring that students can access free school meals to preventing discrimination in classrooms, the support that our public schools receive from the Department of Education is crucial for the development and safety of our keiki. ”
2025 California Advocacy Day
April 22,2025 | On April 28, the Asian Pacific American Public Affairs Association is hosting the 2025 California AANHPI Advocacy Day with over 200+ participant organizations, including AAPI Youth Rising. Organized by Asian Pacific American Public Affairs (APAPA), the event represents the largest statewide AANHPI advocacy mobilization since the Stop Asian Hate movement. It will kick off AAPI Heritage Month not with a celebration, but with an urgent call for collective action. Registration is now open here.
