On May 28, women from across the Bay Area gathered for the Asian Women are Strong (AWAS) Impact Lab held at the historic Cameron House in San Francisco. AWAS is is a community where Asian and Pacific Islander women are celebrated as whole, and the blend of personal histories, cultural roots, ambitions, and dreams are honored.
The Impact Lab centered around the theme for the next AWAS Summit – We See Each Other. Through thoughtful and reflective conversations, this event helped us understand how support within the Asian women’s community shows up in real life: the questions people are exploring, the stories they want reflected, and the goals they are actively building toward.
AAPI Youth Rising Editor-in-Chief Taryn Hwang represented AYR at the event and appreciated the evening spent in community. What was most inspiring was the openness and honesty that each participant brought in sharing their experiences and hopes for the future.
The AWAS Impact Lab creates space for natural connection. As people share what they are building, exploring, or learning, they may find others with common goals or experiences that can help them think through their own next step. Learn more about AWAS on their website and social media.
