Hudson’s Experience at the TAAF AAPI Youth Mental Health Summit

By Hudson Lee

On Saturday, November 8th, I was lucky enough to be invited to the TAAF Mental Health Summit at the Commonwealth club in San Francisco. There, we listened to many community leaders about how they have seen mental health impact their communities and also about studies that they have conducted. The project that was closest to me was the BOBA project. The BOBA project works with youth and their parents, fostering interactions that would’ve likely not occurred in regular life. It allows parents to also bring up conversations on racism against Asians in America, as these talks are normally not brought up. During lunch, after many of the panels had concluded, I joined the BOBA breakout room where we discussed the importance of having these conversations, especially with teens who are beginning to understand the world.
