In honor of election season 2024, Sophanya Long (Sonoma Chapter leader) shared AYR’s One Day of AAPI History lesson and hero Patsy Mink. Patsy Mink was the first woman of color elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and the first Asian-American woman to serve in Congress. She was an American attorney and politician from the U.S. state of Hawaii. She served in the United States House of Representatives for 24 years as a member of the Democratic Party, initially from 1965 to 1977, and again from 1990 until 2002.
