Vicha Ratanapakdee Street Naming
October 2, 2022 | Today, we commemorated the loss of a beloved community member, Vicha Ratanapakdee. He is being forever preserved by the renaming of Sonora Way to Vicha Ratanapakdee Way. Many speakers shared their opinions and takes on the horrific killing. Some examples are Amanda Nguyen and Daniel Dae Kim. We gathered not only to commemorate the killing of Vicha Ratanapakdee, but to honor his legacy and make sure his name is never forgotten. Vicha Ratanapakdee Way is the only street named after a Thai American in the US. Monthanus Ratanapakdee mourns the loss of her father, but also celebrates his part in the growing movement against anti AAPI hate. We will never forget the atrocities committed on January 28, 2020.
