As Information Technology Director it is my duty to design, construct, and maintain AAPI Youth Rising’s website through my knowledge of web design and coding skills. This includes updating pages regularly, modifying graphic layouts, and monitoring viewership. I’m in charge of all of the technology within our organization and also manage technology resources to ensure they operate smoothly. Awareness against injustice towards minorities is very important to me, as a Taiwanese American, and I hope to celebrate my heritage and promote understanding of equality for my community through my experience and contributions.
AYR Projects:
- One Day of AAPI History. One day, one student, one lesson at a time.
- CAvsHate.org community advisory committee led by the California Civil Rights Department: AYR is honored to be selected as a grant-funded community partner for the launch of CA’s hate reporting hotline.
- The ONE/180 Pledge. Out of the 180 days of the school year we receive, at least 1 day should be dedicated to AANHPI history + culture in schools.
I have provided testimony and spoken with:
- The President’s Advisory Commission on Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders
- California Commission on the State of Hate Community Forum and the California Civil Rights Department
- CNN on the impact of education on interpersonal racism
- The Burlingame B on the 2023 Lunar New Year celebration at the White House
- San Mateo Union High School District in introducing CA vs Hate
- 1990 Institute at the Asian American Trailblazers in Civil Rights Teacher Workshop
Honors:
- President’s Volunteer Service Award (2023 and 2022) – Gold
- President’s Volunteer Service Award (2021) – Bronze
- 2024 California All-State Ensemble – Honor Symphony Orchestra – Pianist
I enjoy learning about computer science and bioinformatics, studying psychology (especially the impact of one’s culture and community), and playing piano for the local community. Above all, I’m proud to serve as a founding board member of AAPI Youth Rising.
