White House AANHPI Policy Summit

October 10, 2024

On September 26, 2024, members of AYR congregated on the steps of the U.S. Department of Transportation Headquarters in Washington D.C. for an event hosted by The White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI). This gathering highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration’s leadership, accomplishments, and continued commitment to advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiaan and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities. Speakers included senior White House and federal agency officials, policy experts, and community leaders from across the country.

AYR founder and executive director Mina Fedor and Matthew Sugiyama spoke on a panel led by Dr. Jenny Wang titled “Youth Changemakers: Advancing Mental Health in Our Communities.” These amazing youth representatives shared their experiences and views on how best to address mental health concerns in youth in our communities.

Thank you to everyone at WHIAANHPI for your support and a special shoutout to Jamie Lok and Erika Ninoyu!
